Double Blank Analyzers
Double Blank Analysis Features / Benefits
Syron's DBA systems prevent damage to dies and stamping machinery by detecting multiple blanks during the load sequence. Contact style sensors detect multiple blanks in the destack mechanism allowing early removal or reject sequences. Pass-Thru or pneumatically extended sensors monitor sheet thickness in the magbelt, roller feed or centering station for additional protection throughout the feed process.
Quality control checks can be performed in-process to verify the presence of multiple components during an assembly sequence. Bracket, stiffener plate and stud/nut presence can be verified prior to assembly. Gasket or sealant presence between metallic sheets can be checked after hemming, crimping or spot weld operations. Quality issues are detected early for reduced scrap and shipment rejections.
Parts can be sorted by material thickness during automated feed or unload operations. Hydroformed components are often fabricated in light and heavy duty versions. Sensors in the loading mechanism can automatically direct thin and thick tubing to the appropriate pressline. Sensors in the unload automation can direct finished product to the appropriate storage container.
Syron's Series LTG20 grippers' advanced electronic design provides both part present and double blank detection in one sensor. Mechanical double blank sensors typically require separate sensors for part present and double blank detection and are cumbersome and time-consuming to calibrate. These robust pressroom duty sensors are designed for easy calibration to greatly reduce costly press downtime.

Standard system used throughout automotive stamping for double sheet detection in automated pressline feed systems. Contact style ferrous and non-ferrous sensors provide reliable double sheet detection over a wide range of materials with little recalibration. One to four input channels allow single sheet verification in destack, magbelt, roller feed, centering station and on both sides of welded blanks. Each input channel has independant measurement circuitry that allows simultaneous measurements at multiple locations. Twelve preset thickness values are stored in memory. Simple binary input from PLC automatically selects correct single sheet thickness at job change. DBA automatically calculates 1 sheet / 2 sheet tolerance window and provides discrete part presence, 1 sheet and 2 sheet outputs to the PLC.MORE

Pass-Thru double sheet detection for automated pressline feed systems. Pass ferrous or non-ferrous material through 1 inch (25mm) to 2 inch (50mm) gap between transmit and receive sensor pair for quick and easy detection of multiple sheets. 127 jobs are stored in memory. Each job set-up includes ferrous/non-ferrous material selection, single sheet thickness and a material specific conversion curve calculated from a sample sheet. Jobs are selected by binary input from the PLC or by keypad entry. One and two channel controllers are available. Each channel has independant measurement circuitry and discrete 0, 1 and 2 sheet outputs. Measurement "Done" bit simplifies PLC interface timing. Sends measurement "Start" command and reads result when "Done" bit turns on. MORE

DBD provides low cost, single channel thickness measurement of ferrous material in automated press feed lines or welding lines. Operator selects single sheet thickness for each job using simple arrow keys on the keypad. Mechanical relay outputs signal part presence, 1 and 2 sheet condition and system fault. The controller automatically takes a continuous series of measurements whenever material is detected in front of the sensor face. DBD software automatically calculates a 1 sheet / 2 sheet tolerance window based on selected single sheet thickness. This tolerance window reliably detects 2 sheets while eliminating nuisance faults.

DHP provides quality control verification of the presence of multiple ferrous and non-ferrous structures in an assembly as well as material / assembly sorting by thickness. DHP software allows field selection of low and high thickness limits. This allows outputs for below window, within window and above window situations.MORE

DeviceNet compatible smart sensors reside on network nodes and communicate directly to the PLC scanner card. Contact style and pass-thru sensors monitor both ferrous and non-ferrous material. Material thickness, 1 sheet / 2 sheet, part presence and fault conditions are transmitted directly to the PLC. No intermediate control module is required. Sensors operate as a group: two only slave at 125, 250 or 500 K band and support polled or bit strobed I/O. Customer / OEM develops the PLC software to manipulate and display data appropriate for unique application requirements.MORE
